NDOW - Capture and Release a Success! - November 2008

The recent bighorn sheep captures in Clark County and translocations to southern Lincoln County were very successful.  In the course of four days (October 31—November 3), a total of 107 desert bighorn sheep were captured from  the River Mountains, Muddy Mountains and McCullough Range, and released in the Delamar Mountains and Meadow Valley Mountains.  By the end of the second day of capture activities, 75 bighorn sheep had been released in the Delamar Mountains.  By the end of day four, 32 sheep had been released in the Meadow Valley Mountains.

The bighorn sheep captures and translocations were tremendously successful due to the skill and dedication of the Quicksilver crew, NDOW personnel, Fraternity of the Desert Bighorn members, and a host of volunteers including personnel from National Park Service, United States Geological Survey and United States Fish and Wildlife Service.  To everyone that participated, thank you for making it easy and fun.
